Lincoln’s primary music program benefits both general education and SDC students, grades kindergarten through third grade. All Lincoln primary students received about two months of music last year, but we are fortunate that funding from both the Lincoln Foundation and the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts have afforded us a much more robust schedule for this year.
Lincoln Elementary’s goal is for all primary grade students to read music by the end of their third grade year. This will encourage a natural progression in their interest and appreciation of the art, as well as practical use of math and language concepts via a well-rounded, multi-sensory music program, and build interest in the Chorus and Orchestra programs. The Lincoln Foundation was able to secure supplemental funding to achieve this endeavor through a generous grant from the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts.
The PSHA hosts a fantastic annual event – The Pasadena Showcase House of Design (“Showcase”) is produced as PSHA’s annual benefit, combining the efforts of PSHA members with over 50 designers who transform the interior and grounds of a selected estate. The event is held mid-April through mid-May each year. Please show your thanks to PSHA by attending this event in the spring! It is the Showcase ticket sales that drive PSHA music grants like the one Lincoln received, and that now benefits Lincoln students. Pasadena Showcase
